For proper connection, a hand well pump, pipes, couplings and valves are required (not included).

The driving spikes are used with the NP series low-stand hand pumps for dug wells in soft aquifers. They also act as a mechanical filter. They are mounted on a suction pipe (usually a galvanized pipe with threads) of the same diameter and are driven into the ground with a driving hammer. For the well to function properly, it is necessary to pump out a sufficient amount of sand from around the spike to create an adequate water reservoir around the spike in the ground.
